2. Connotative meaning is the additional meaning that a word has beyond
its dictionary definition. It is the feelings, emotions, either positive
or negative, suggested by a word. For example, the word "PIG"
is a domestic animal, but in different culture, its connotative meaning
is different. In Chinese culture, pig means dirty and lazy; but in English
it hasn't such meaning.
3. First, write a single word on the center of the blackboard, then ask
students to think of the words that are connected with it. Then write
down every word that the students have suggested on the blackboard with
a line connecting it to the original word.
V. 1. In the skill of Defining New Words By Simple Words, it is the teacher
not the student who gives the definition because (1) the teacher can provide
the correct meaning by proper choice of words: to gain the correct meaning
of the new words is very important in vocabulary learning; (2) in teacher's
definition of the new words, there are no mistakes which can ensure that
the students get the right and correct grammar.
2. Pronouncing the words correctly is the first step for the students

form with the pronunciation.
